Project Scope: Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake (NAWSCL) is located in the Western Mojave Desert
region of California in Kern, San Bernardino and Inyo counties. The NAWSCL Randsburg Wash
Road Repairs Project will repair damaged pavement from recent rain events and improve
Randsburg Wash Road to the latest standards. The total length of the road repairs is estimated at
5 miles in length.
In August of 2025, Ridgecrest experienced two large rain events that caused significant damage
to Randsburg Wash Road at NAWSCL. Paving and site improvements includes demolition of existing AC paving, road widening, road shoulder grading, new bituminous pavement, drainage structures, traffic signage and striping.
This project is divided into a Base Bid and one (1) additional Option Bid Items. The Option Bid Items
may be awarded at any time during the Base Bid performance period of 540 calendar days. If any
or all the Option Bid Items are exercised, the period of performance will be extended a total of
120 calendar days.
Base Bid
Design and Reconstruct Randsburg Wash Road including widening to a minimum 32 ft
paved road width, and culverts at natural drainage paths as needed from Christmas Canyon Gate
to approximately 9650 ft west along the road and from railroad tracks to approximately 7600 ft
east along the road . Location per Phase 1, 2, 4 & 5 as indicated on the exhibit provided in part 6 of the project specifcations.
Option 1
Design and Reconstruct Randsburg Wash Road including widening to a minimum 32 ft
paved road width, and culverts at natural drainage paths as needed from end of Phase 2 to
approximately 7000 ft east along the road. Project includes relocation of Fiber Lines running
parallel to roadway as shown in provided design as needed. Location per Phase 3 as indicated
on the exhibit provided in part 6 of project specications. All earthwork performed during phase 3 must be witnessed by a tribal monitor and cultural monitor provided by the contractor per the CATEX.
Assistance will be available in obtaining bonds, lines of credit, insurance, necessary equipment, supplies, materials or related technical assistance.
